The city of Meridian is located in Central Texas and is the county seat of Bosque County. The most recent report from the United States census put the population at roughly 1,500 and growing.
Meridian’s weather consists mostly of mild winters and hot summers, perfect for enjoying any number of nearby lakes and outdoor attractions.
Meridian is served by the Meridian Independent School District and is the proud home of the Meridian Yellowjackets.

Meridian City Council
Meridian City Council is the local governing body for the City of Meridian. The City Council meets on the 2nd Monday of each month at 5:30 p.m. at the Senior Center located in Meridian, Texas.
Please join us at our meetings. Agendas and minutes are posted prior to the meetings at Meridian City Hall, and here on the website.
Community members wishing to address the council may sign up to do so before the meeting starts. Council is not able to make immediate decisions but can decide to take future actions on any and all concerns.

The Meridian Municipal Court is holding in person trials. If you have any concerns regarding your case(s), please contact the Court Clerk for special arrangements to be made.
Municipal Court Citation Procedure
It is your responsibility to contact the Court and inform them on how you want to resolve your citation, by the initial appearance date on your citation. You can do this by phone, by mail, by email, or by our night drop box on the front of the building, next to the entrance door.

NOTICE OF ALTERNATIVES TO FULL PAYMENT OF FINES OR COSTS
The judgment and sentence for the offense you are charged is the payment of a fine and court costs. If ordered to pay a fine and court costs, and you cannot pay, notify the court immediately. If you are determined, by the court to have insufficient resources or income to pay, the court is required to provide you with other ways to discharge the fine and cost.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
What educational opportunities are available for my kids?
Meridian ISD provides a wealth of core classes and extracurricular activities for local students living in Meridian and the surrounding area. Bosque County 4-H also offers classes in shooting, photography, cooking, design, archery, fishing and much more. Youth groups are conducted in accordance with local churches as well.
Is there a public library in Meridian?
Meridian Public Library serves the community by providing computers and internet access, in addition to books, audiobooks, movies and countless items for adults and children. The library is located at 118 N Main St in downtown Meridian, or by phone at 254-435-9100.
I have a lot of large things/brush to throw out.
The City of Meridian offers its residents the opportunity to haul bulky items to the dumpster at the North Water Tower on Highway 144 on the first and third Saturday of the month. The site is open from 8 a.m. to noon or until the dumpster is full. Exclusions on permitted items do apply.
To dump there, residents are required to have a permit. A permit can be picked up at City Hall. Permits are only issued if the items are from your personal property and a water bill is shown as proof of residency.
Waste Connections does accept small bundled and tied brush that does not exceed 4 feet and 2 feet in diameter.
The large brush can be brought to the city brush dump site on brush day, the first Saturday of the month from 8 a.m. – noon. The city brush site is located at the old sewage site behind Bosque Bottoms.
*For elderly or handicap that are not able to haul their brush/limbs, and are in need of assistance, please contact the City Hall. *
Are there public spaces available for rent in Meridian?
The Meridian Civic Center, The Senior Center on Main Street, and other venues are available in Meridian. The Civic Center offers plenty of space for socially-distance events and get-togethers. Previously, the venues have been used for birthdays, weddings, Quinceaneras, meetings, and much more.

Where can I take my dog for a walk?
We WELCOME you and your Fur Babies to try Meridian Park or Lions Park, in addition to downtown areas. You are able to walk around enjoying the sights. It is a City Ordinance that your pet be on a leash. Be sure to bring bags for poop pick-up and clean up after your pet as you go. Please take into consideration there are other people of all ages and traffic in these areas. Try to avoid major roadsides that are busy and/or with little sidewalk or walking areas.
